feet
For an explanation of why I was absent for the last week, read yesterday's entry. Or, if you didn't even notice that I was gone, that's OK too.
The air conditioning in our bedroom smells like feet. Not like the dead mice this past winter, not like dust or mold or food dropped into the grating, but feet. I'm running the A/C now in hopes to clear out the funk, but it's just making the whole apartment and its inhabitants smell like feet.
I just got my work schedule for next year. Intern year sucks ass, no doubt, but I think that next year is going to suck extra special ass because, as though by divine decree, Joe's schedule is the polar opposite of my own. First of all, our neither of our vacation blocks match up. They don't even come close. Fine. I mean, not fine, but internship is the time to eat it, right? But it doesn't just stop there. Whenever I'm on a hard rotation, he's on an easy rotation, and vice versa. He's working days one month? I'm working nights. It's as though someone came up with an algorithm for the schedule to ensure that we are barely able to spend any free time together. In fact, it's no exaggeration that we will probably each be spending more time with the dog next year than with each other. Great news for the dog, though.
And here, because I have nothing else of note to say today, is a gratuitous picture of Cooper. For some reason, I keep thinking she looks like Richard Pryor in this picture, but I can't really explain why.
Her wart is getting better again (remember, she chewed it off, but then it grew back) so maybe all that rolling around in other dogs' feces did it some good. She's also being quite clingy, following us around from room to room, sleeping at our feet as we work, which is actually pretty cute. She has kind of a funny smell, though, from the pet shampoo that they used at the Dog Spa. It smells like Chinatown bathroom freshener. Oh well. Pretty soon she'll smell like feet like the rest of us here.
