run on the bank

I think they must have set a new record for poor customer service at the bank yesterday.  I went there Thursday morning to get something fixed for the joint account that Joe and I opened for household expenses.  After more than an hour, not only did they fail to fix the problem, they also managed to cancel the debit card for my own, personal account, such that I can no longer withdraw money from the ATM anymore.  Leaving the bank not only having not received help, but totally fucking up something that was working fine before? Employee of the Month!

So since my bank card got cancelled, I actually have to go out and re-do some Christmas shopping, for gifts that I had ordered on my bank card, but had not been charged before the brilliant teller "accidentally" cancelled it.  (Barnes and Noble, your online "Same Day Delivery in Manhattan" promise is no longer to be trusted.  I would have expected such shenanigans from Amazon, but you disappoint me.)  So the plan for today is to play with Cooper, shove her into her crate for two or three hours while I run errands, and try to get back home in time to give her lunch and avoid scatological crisis.

Sometime over the course of the past few days, Cooper has learned to balance herself on just her hind legs for a few moments, usually while reaching up for stuff to gnaw on.  Standing on two legs!  Just like a little Rory Calhoun.  It's actually incredibly cute to see (especially when she loses her balance and falls over backwards), but methinks that this is the kind of behavior that ceases to be funny when your 60 pound dog stands up all bipedal- style and is taller than you.

Tonight Joe and I are going to see The Goat, the Albee play that won the Best Play Tony this past year.  (The tickets were part of my Christmas present.)  From what I understand, it's about a man who has an adulterous affair with a goat.  Saucy!  Bill Pullman was in the original cast, but now his role is being played by Bill Irwin.  Pity.  If Pullman was still around, I would have shouted "Lone Star!" as he walked on the stage.
