jewelbox
Do you all know about the game Diamond Mine? I downloaded it off of Yahoo a few days ago. It's getting a little boring, but it's just the kind of mindless distraction that I find so satisfying these days. Kind of like Minesweeper, but more sparkly.
The real reason that I downloaded Diamond Mine is because I was looking for a free version of the game Jewelbox, which is sort of a hybrid of Tetris and Dr. Mario. But with jewels.
I played a lot of Jewelbox during my "research" days in college, doing my time as a science major scut monkey who thought that any well-rounded med school application should have some lab experience on it. (Questionable if this is actually true.) I worked in a Neuroscience lab, and my project involved neurotransmitter ablative surgery on neonatal rats, and tracking their performance on learning and memory tasks after they grew to be adult mice.
What this meant was this. I was very busy at the start of the project, doing surgery on litters and litters of little, pink mice. (Neonatal mice look like gummi bears, in case you're interested.) But then I had to wait for eight weeks for the mice to mature up before I could start the learning and memory experiements on them. Therefore, I had nothing to on my project for eight weeks. Hence, Jewelbox. When I gave my poster presentation at the end of the summer, I actually gave special thanks to "the makers of Jewelbox." They helped me through a very boring period of my life, OK?
Now I'm playing Diamond Mine in an effort to avoid packing. We're now T-minus six to Moving Day, and I think I've been making good progress, given the number of packed and taped and labeled boxes sitting outside my room. However, despite the fact that I've boxed up approximately 60% of my stowable possessions, my room looks no different from the way it looked before I started. How does this happen? Where does all this stuff come from?
