For some reason, every time I turn on the TV, "Meet the Parents" is on HBO.  I've seen snippets of that movie so many times that I think I have the whole script memorized.  My favorite part is when Greg Focker RN goes into Denny's room to borrow some clothes and tries to talk jive.

And don't worry about your little
recon mission.  I'll keep it on the low down.

"Down low"

GREG
No doubt.

Heh.  I think that Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson should be in every movie ever.

In other television news, I just watched the first episode of the new season of "The Real World."  My interest was sparked when my sister told me that one of the girls on the show this time around went to our high school.  Judging from her age, she was probably in ninth grade the year I graduated, which explains why I didn't recognize her at all.

So my question about "The Real World" is this: how many times can you keep making the exact same show over and over and over again?  How many times can you film the exact same people (with different names, and occasionally, though not always, different faces) doing the same things every single year?  I understand fully why they have an age cutoff for the show, though.  By the time you reach the age of 24, most people stop acting so stupid.

Welcome to the fourth year of medical school.  Where free time abounds, and I think about medicine as little as I possibly can after hours.  Though it was harder the first two years of med school, and even somewhat difficult during the third, there comes a point where work becomes work, home becomes home, and suddenly, the distinction becomes very clear.  I think this bodes well for my ability to compartmentalize.  Maybe someday I'll be able to have kids of my own without constantly thinking of them in relation to the sick kids at work, and obsessing about whatever freaky undiagnosed diseases my children could secretly be harboring.

Or maybe I'll just stick with the plan and become the most neurotic parent ever.
